If a family member becomes sick with COVID-19:
  • You may be eligible for up to 12 weeks of unpaid time off under the Family Medical Leave Act if your workplace had 20 or more employees. See here for more information.

  • ​If you are a public sector employee, you may be eligible for additional benefits under the Alaska Family Leave Act. See here for more information.

If you need to take leave from work due to child’s school cancellation:
  • Under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act: beginning April 1 through December 31, 2020, eligible employees can receive up to 10 paid sick days and 12 weeks of extended leave when a parent cannot work due to a school or child care facility closure due to COVID-19.
